nap time project

I received a Kobo e-reader for my birthday and have been using a not so pretty case to protect it... until today! I found this tutorial via Pinterest from The Cottage Home and I thought the fabric I had picked up would be well used to make this cute little case.

I started it last night at 10pm. Not a good move.

I decided to put it aside until I had more time and I wasn't struggling to keep my eyes open. So when the little went down for her nap this afternoon I ripped out last night's stitches and started over.
My sewing machine was having a fight with the fleece I used for a lining and my third trimester hormones were getting the best of me as I wrenched the button tab off the machine a few times so I switched it out for some elastic as a closure.
I also added the ruffle-y strip because I had two fabrics I wanted to use. The lining is a cheap-o dollar store baby blanket that we have never used so I didn't feel too bad hacking it to bits.

My Kobo just fits in nicely and seems to be happy in his new home.
Thanks for the tutorial Cottage Mama!

Linky Love: Curry, Bracelets and a Camera Strap Cover

Hubs surprised me with a new camera last night, so of course my first priority is clearly to make this.

This chickpea potato curry is so delicious, one of my favourite recipes ever. Hubs the self professed carnivore even gave it rave reviews.

Remember how I said I need fabric? Well I found some.

I saw this bracelet   on Love but I think my new camera may have eaten up my gift quota for a while.

Feeling the wrong kind of crafty: Top Ten Tuesday

I've been feeling super crafty lately, like fabric crafty but I need more fabric...I wish I was feeling scrapbook paper crafty because I have a ton of scrapbook paper (thanks mom!) and then there would be more pages in my 14 month old's scrapbook than just the one of her baby shower from the summer of 2009.

Here are the top ten crafts that I have bookmarked to do. At some point. When I have more fabric.

1. Rolled Flowers from Snazzie drawers (the tutorial link is in her right sidebar)

2. Fitted cloth diapers, haven't decided on a pattern as of yet but have been looking at several.

3. Dragon slippers, how cute are these!

5. Ruffle pillows for the living room, our bedroom, Isabel's room...

6. Wool soakers to cover the fitted diaper I make.

7. Yo-yo's would look great with some rolled flowers.

8. So what if it's a Valentine craft? A cute wreath is still a cute wreath right?

9. Leggings for Isabel with some flare.

10. A diaper sewing job I really actually NEED to do more then want.

excited to sew and shop

So I just got this book because the Amazon preview just looked so good.

I'm excited to get our nursery all ready for the little one and looking at sites like rate my space just gets me that much more excited.
I mean just look at this from user grettacole! The bright fun colours, I am in love and I'm looking forward to a trip to Ikea :)
